- The Red Rock Hot Club (RRHC) recreates the sounds of Paris in the 1930's and 40's. In 1934, guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli created a group that would be Europe's largest contribution to a new American art form called Jazz. The group was called "The Quintet of the Hot Club of France"; their Euro-Classical musical backgrounds blended uniquely with Jazz to create their own style. The style and genre has taken on several names... Jazz Manouche, Gadjo Swing, Jazz Hot, Hot Swing or my favorite... "Gypsy Jazz". The RRHC is Utah's Premier Gypsy Jazz Project. They play authentic, acoustic, stringed instruments, which are the key to making this music sound right.
Gypsy Jazz has a unique history, sound, and motion. The most notable difference is the rhythm guitar replaces the drummer, and drives the music. Embodying a wide range of musical roots, the music includes everything from traditional gypsy music with Hungarian, and Russian roots, to American Jazz standards played "Gypsy Jazz" style.
RRHC consists of five musicians: Rich Daigle - guitar, Page Mcginnis - guitar, Dr. Charlie Ayers - guitar, Doug Wright - bass, and Stuart Maxfield - violin.

Please forward this email to your employees and colleagues! Everyone is invited. Let’s have a big turnout to show our legislature that we mean business!

Don’t miss this opportunity to hold your legislators accountable for protecting your interests and not those of the insurance lobby!
Workshops:
PART 1: Overview of Legislation designed to move forward on small business health coverage.
Learn about four pieces of legislation designed to bring Utah-based small businesses closer to affordable and sustainable health care coverage. We will also discuss other bills that will postpone or interfere with our quest to find affordable coverage solutions.
PART 2: Become an effective advocate for health care.
Whether this is your first time on the hill or if you are a seasoned advocate, this is your opportunity to learn how to identify and build relationships with your representatives, how to ask for what you want, and how to get it!
12:00 - Noon West Capitol Building, lobby Press Conference
Members of the press will convene to hear about the UBGH’s legislative agenda and talk to small business owners about the challenges of finding affordable, comprehensive health care.

Background info:
- On June 29, 2005 a fire displaced residents of the Stratford Hotel apartments. The resulting fire and water damage made them uninhabitable. La Porte Properties created Jameson Properties, LLC, specifically for the $4.5 million dollar rehabilitation. This project helps fulfill Salt Lake City's goal of facilitating the provision of affordable housing in the Downtown area. It also furthers the Salt Lake City’s energy conservation goals by incorporating solar panels as a source of energy in order to conserve energy and reduce tenant utilities by approximately 35%. In addition, set-aside units include five units for persons with HIV/AIDS, five units for developmentally disabled persons, and two units for persons transitioning out of homelessness. Truly, they are thinking about the triple-bottom-line of economic, social, and environmental sustainability.

- 2007 proudly announces self-made millionaire and winner of NBC's "The Apprentice" television show Bill Rancic speaking on Wednesday, and on Thursday the Expo will enjoy an outstanding technology panel event brought to us by the Utah Technology Council.
- And new for 2007, we're not just feeding the VIP's. We're feeding everyone - free with admission. Lunch available anytime from not just one, but three great restaurants - Rumbi Island Grill, Costa Vida Fresh Mexican or the California Pizza Kitchen - each for the unbeatable price of, nothing.
- Many new features are continually being added to the Expo to ensure an excellent experience.
- Like we already mentioned - food for everyone this year. And with these great restaurants, you'll want to bring someone with you.
The heart of any good business expo is the business connections that you can make to help your business move forward. Not only are all the best businesses in the region exhibiting, you'll most likely find the man in charge at the show. Quality people make for a quality expo. We have custom ticket distribution to many top executives. After all, people do business with people they know.
- Many business groups will call the Expo home for their meetings in March, from technology to networking groups to major employers in the area.
- Marketing for the Expo includes (some for the first time in 2007) KSL television, as well as radio campaigns, billboards, magazines (BusinessQ & Utah Valley Magazine), newspaper (The Daily Herald and Deseret Morning News and the Enterprise), property signage, desktop displays and more, including RSVP calls to the county's largest employers such as BYU, Novell, NuSkin, business networking group heads, etc.

March 11, 2007 Daylight Savings Adjustment
The U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005, passed by the U.S. Congress July, 2005, extended Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the U.S. by approximately four weeks. As a result, beginning in 2007, DST will start three weeks earlier on March 11, 2007, and end one week later on November 4, 2007, resulting in a new DST period that is four weeks longer than previously observed. These four weeks are referred to as the "extended DST period." Computers using Windows XP SP2 and Apple's OS-X operating systems should handle the time change smoothly as long as users have downloaded regular system updates. Users of older operating systems, however, may have to manually reset their clocks.
Also those with handheld devices using the Palm OS or Windows Mobile have updates available. These updates are important to keep your calendar and appointments "in sync" with the time change. We encourage all Chamber East members to make sure their computers and handhelds are updated.
Source: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/timezone/dst2007.mspx
Microsoft Products affected by DST:
Microsoft Windows
Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services
Microsoft Exchange Server
Microsoft Office Outlook
Microsoft Office Live Meeting
Microsoft Dynamics CRM
Microsoft SQL Server Notification Services
Microsoft Entourage
Automatic Software Update
Software Update, located in System Preferences, can automatically download and install the latest Apple software. Software Update may have linked you to this document for additional information about the update.
The update's size may vary from computer to computer when installed via Software Update.
Because some updates are prerequisites for others, you may need to run Software Update more than once to get all available updates. (Source: www.apple.com. Click on Support and search for 'DST Help'.)

Press Release announcement: Sugar House Valley Journals starting on June 21, 2007
- Boyd Petersen, publisher of The Valley Journals family of community newspapers, has announced that a new publication, the Sugar House Journal, will begin publication on June 21. It will be the 12th Valley Journal newspaper in the Salt Lake Valley, and will be delivered by mail monthly to every home and business within the Sugar House area.
The new Sugar House Journal’s circulation area will run from 700 East on the West to the Wasatch Mountains on the east, and from 1700 South to the boundary of Salt Lake City at about 2700 South.
"We’re very excited to be able to bring to the residents and businesses of Sugar House our new Journal," Petersen said. "As with all of our newspapers, the focus for the Sugar House Journal will be completely on news within the community local government, schools, sports and features about residents of Sugar House. We are already working with the Sugar House Merchants Association, Vest Pocket Business Coalition and Chamber East to put together a marketing plan specially designed with the unique flavor of Sugar House in mind. They are very excited to have us come to this area. Our slogan is Not Just News - Our Community News, and that will always be our focus in the Sugar House Journal."
The Valley Journals have been publishing in the Salt Lake market since 1991. The newspapers have a combined circulation of over 300,000 homes and businesses, and have the highest average readership of any publication in the Salt Lake Valley, according to statistics from the Utah Press Association. Other Journals include the South Valley Journal, which will continue to be sent to Bluffdale, Herriman, Riverton and South Jordan; the Midvale Journal, the Sandy Journal, the Cottonwood/Holladay Journal, the Murray Journal, the Millcreek Journal, the South Salt Lake Journal, the West Valley Journal, the Taylorsville/Kearns Journal, the West Jordan Journal and the Draper Journal, which will also begin publication in June. Petersen also publishes Ski and Snowboard News seven times a year.

Lights Off Utah!
Time: 9:00 -10:00 p.m.
Lights Off Utah is an energy demonstration focused on portraying the positive impact using less energy can have on all Utahns and the state. Utahns are encouraged to turn off all lights within their homes and businesses.
Lights Off Utah - is intended to demonstrate how much energy can be saved and how carbon emissions can be eliminated through the simple act of turning off all lights statewide for one hour. Utahns are being asked to turn-off non-essential lighting in their homes for one hour. State and local governments will also support the effort by turning off lights in office buildings and other structures. Essential lighting, including street lights, traffic lights and hospital lighting, will remain on during the initiative. Many State facilities have hard-wired safety lighting that will also be maintained. According to Rocky Mountain Power, if 750,000 residential or commercial units turned off just five 60-watt bulbs for an hour, enough energy would be saved to run every appliance in 1,300 homes for a week.
- The initiative is being organized by eCube Energy and the Nightside Project on KSL NewsRadio. Other organizations supporting the event include the State of Utah, Utah League of Cities and Towns, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Salt Lake Chamber/Downtown Alliance, Rocky Mountain Power, Comcast and Utah Clean Energy.
